Randolph Community College (RCC) is stepping up to support workers affected by the closure of Bossong Hosiery, connecting displaced employees with employment opportunities, career resources, and pathways to new careers through an upcoming Career Fair and additional support services.

The College will host a Career Fair on Wednesday, Nov. 4, from 2-5 p.m. in the Photo Bay of the Photographic Technology Building on RCC’s Asheboro Campus. The event is open to the public, with resources specifically available to assist workers impacted by the closure.

In preparation for the event, RCC has reached out to five additional employers to encourage their participation and expand potential employment opportunities for displaced workers.

A special resume workshop will also be offered before the Career Fair, providing assistance with creating, updating, and printing resumes, in the Administration and Education Building, Room 303, from 12-2 p.m.

“Behind every business closure are individuals and families facing uncertainty about what comes next,” President/CEO Dr. Shah Ardalan said. “Our responsibility as a community college extends beyond the classroom. We are here to help people navigate change, recognize the value of the skills they already possess, and discover new opportunities to support themselves and their families. Whether their next step is a new job, additional training, or an entirely different career, we want them to know they do not have to take that step alone.”

Representatives from RCC’s Career Services, Human Resources Development, Workforce, Industry Partnerships and Skilled Trades, and Onboarding and Success departments will collaborate with NCWorks Career Center of Randolph County to connect attendees with available resources.

Spanish-language assistance will be available, and RCC Student Success Navigators will be on hand to discuss educational opportunities, career exploration, and training options for workers considering a transition into another field.

The College’s coordinated approach is designed to help affected employees address immediate employment needs while also exploring longer-term career possibilities.

“When members of our community face unexpected challenges, it’s important that we come together to support one another,” said Dr. Lisa Carlson, Vice President of Student Success. “RCC is proud to work alongside our local employers and community partners to help affected workers and their families navigate this transition. By connecting individuals with employment opportunities, career guidance, and pathways to new skills, we hope to provide not only practical resources, but also reassurance that their community is behind them as they take their next steps.”

Workers affected by the closure, as well as other community members seeking employment or career assistance, are encouraged to attend the Nov. 4 Career Fair.
