RCC helps job seekers get ‘Career Ready’ with new workshop series
Randolph Community College is helping students and community members put their best foot forward in the workplace with a new three-part workshop series focused on essential career skills.
“RCC Career Ready,” a collaboration among RCC’s Career Services, Human Resources Development (HRD), and Student Engagement departments, will feature workshops on resumé writing, interviewing, and developing an effective elevator pitch. The workshops are free and open to RCC students and members of the community.
“At RCC, access to education should lead to opportunities for meaningful employment and long-term success,” President/CEO Dr. Shah Ardalan said. “Like most everything else, the art and science of interviewing continue to evolve, from traditional face-to-face meetings to virtual interviews. RCC Career Ready helps students and community members build the skills and confidence they need to navigate today’s changing workplace.”
The series includes:
Resumé Rescue — Tuesday, Sept. 22
RCC Asheboro Campus, Business Education Center, Room 111
Give your resumé an upgrade by learning how to highlight your skills, experiences, and strengths to create a resumé that gets noticed.
Interview Unlocked — Thursday, Oct. 15
Downtown Asheboro, RCC Education and Engagement Center, Room 102
Practice answering common interview questions, build confidence, and learn how to make a strong impression on potential employers.
Pitch Perfect — Thursday, Nov. 5
RCC Archdale Center, Room 321A
Learn how to create and confidently deliver a 30-second elevator pitch that communicates who you are and what you bring to the table.
All three workshops will be held from 3-4 p.m. Participants may attend in person or virtually, with a Microsoft Teams link provided to virtual participants after registration.
The Career Ready series marks the first slate of career-focused events involving RCC’s new Career Services department. The workshops are designed to provide practical professional development for both RCC students and members of the community while supporting the College’s broader efforts to prepare a skilled, career-ready workforce.
The series brings together Career Services Director Anna Williford, Director of HRD and Special Programs Tonya Monroe, and Student Life Specialist Brandon Watt, combining resources from across the College to help participants develop professional skills they can use throughout their careers.
“RCC is committed to equipping individuals with the confidence and resources they need to take their next step toward a successful career,” Williford said. “As we build our new Career Services department, we are especially proud to partner with Human Resources Development and Student Engagement to bring RCC Career Ready to our students and local workforce. By strengthening career readiness skills and supporting individuals with the needs of our local workforce, we are helping create pathways from the classroom to meaningful employment right here in our community.”
