College celebrates National Radiologic Technology Week and spotlights Radiography Program
From Nov. 2-8, Randolph Community College joined the nationwide observance of National Radiologic Technology Week (NRTW), honoring the vital work of medical imaging professionals and shining a spotlight on the institution’s own Radiography Program.
Created annually by the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT), NRTW commemorates the discovery of the X-ray on Nov. 8, 1895, while celebrating the many specialties of the radiologic sciences. The 2025 theme, “The Kaleidoscope of Radiologic Technology,” highlights the wide scope of imaging and therapy roles that combine to support patient care and safety.
At RCC, the Radiography program prepares students to become imaging professionals who play an indispensable role in the healthcare continuum. Students engage in rigorous coursework — including radiographic exposure, image processing, anatomy and physiology, radiation protection, and clinical rotations — through the associate in applied science degree.
"Our Radiography graduates are part of a dynamic profession that is absolutely essential to modern patient care,” RCC President/CEO Dr. Shah Ardalan said. “During National Radiologic Technology Week, we celebrate their expertise — and we invite prospective students to explore how our program can launch a rewarding career in imaging.”
How to explore RCC’s Radiography Program:
- Attend an information session — in-person Nov. 12 at 11:30 a.m. at the Allied Health Center, room 103 (no registration required), or virtual Nov. 20 at 8:30 a.m. (register here by 4 p.m. on Nov. 19),
- Review admissions requirements: Competitive enrollment, GPA benchmarks, TEAS test, documentation,
- Visit online: com/rad,
- Consider financial aid and scholarships for health science students.
The program is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT), ensuring students meet national standards of education and preparation.
RCC’s Radiography program recently received significant grant funding to expand capacity, upgrade training facilities, and launch a new mammography certificate. The 2025 graduating class also boasted a 100% first-time pass rate on the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) national certification exam.
Why the radiography field matters:
- Imaging professionals are the unseen backbone of diagnosis and treatment — from routine x-rays to advanced CT, MRI, and breast imaging.
- With the NRTW theme emphasizing diversity of practice, the field invites those passionate about health technology, patient care, and imaging innovation.
- RCC’s program not only equips students with technical skills but also fosters professionalism, communication, and critical thinking.
