Randolph Community College (RCC) is now enrolling students in its new Medical Administrative Assistant program, a fully online credential designed to prepare graduates for a variety of essential administrative roles within the healthcare industry. The program will begin on Aug. 18.

Structured to be completed in just two semesters, the program equips students with the practical skills and foundational knowledge required for entry-level employment in hospitals, clinics, and private medical offices. Coursework includes medical terminology, office procedures, customer service, transcription, patient records management, insurance reimbursement processes, and training in HIPAA compliance and medical ethics.

“Randolph Community College is proud to expand our healthcare education offerings with a program that meets both workforce demand and student need,” RCC President/CEO Dr. Shah Ardalan said. “This new online credential reflects our commitment to providing accessible, relevant, and career-centered training.”

Upon successful completion, graduates will be eligible to sit for industry-recognized certification exams. The program is also designed to be cost-effective, with scholarships and financial assistance potentially available for qualifying students.

"This program represents the intersection of access, speed to employment, and quality instruction,” said Dr. Lisa Johnson, RCC Vice President of Learning and Workforce Development. “In just two semesters, students can earn a credential that opens the door to high-demand careers in healthcare administration—all through a fully online format designed with working adults in mind.”

An informational session will be held on Tuesday, July 29, at 6 p.m. in room 103 of the Allied Health Center on RCC’s Asheboro Campus. Prospective students will have the opportunity to meet instructors and ask questions about the program.
