Writing Across the Curriculum - WriteNow!

Faculty Resources

Professional Development

RCC offers ongoing professional development for full-time and adjunct faculty. All of our faculty members are encouraged to participate in professional development activities. Additional workshops are offered on faculty work days.

Print Materials

Each full-time instructor at RCC has been provided a copy of Engaging Ideas: A Professor’s Guide to Integrating Writing, Critical Thinking, and Active Learning in the Classroom by John C. Bean. Additional Print Materials are available for instructors to check out.

Use of a rubric to evaluate student writing is considered a "best practice" in instruction and is a component of our QEP. RCC instructors are invited to use the college-wide Holistic Rubric and the college-wide Analytic Rubric. Additionally, rubric workshops are offered each year.

This section serves as a resource for faculty and an opportunity for dialogue about Writing Across the Curriculum. It is an occasion for colleagues to share their experiences as they implement WAC strategies in their classrooms, promote and improve student learning, and enhance students' written communication skills.

Writing Center Information for Faculty

Please encourage your students to visit our campus Writing Center in LRC 214. Instructors may make referrals for any student(s) needing specific help. The following post card, How to Refer a Student to the Writing Center, provides instructions for doing so. Students are also welcome to drop in to the Writing Center without a referral to get one-on-one assistance with writing skills. The Writing Center LibGuide provides additional, useful information for you and your students about RCC’s Writing Center.
