Deadline to register for Pathways Camps is May 15

ASHEBORO (May 1, 2019)

Just because school’s out at the end of June doesn’t mean you have to stop learning.

Randolph Community College, along with the Asheboro City and Randolph County school systems, is offering three Pathways Camps this summer for students and teachers alike.

The second AMP (Advanced Manufacturing Pathway) Camp will be June 17-20 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. each day at RCC. The new APP (Agriculture Production Pathway) Camp is slated for June 24-27 from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. each day and will meet at the Randolph County Cooperative Extension Office at 1003 South Fayetteville Street in Asheboro. The new HIP (Health Industry Pathway) Camp is June 17-19 from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. each day at a location to be determined.

Students will visit industry-specific local businesses and participate in classroom learning labs designed to provide real-world experiences, while teachers will get to experience classroom learning labs designed to introduce them to real-world projects. All will be immersed in the industry while learning about specific careers with teachers learning how to guide students in developing skills to ensure success in those specific fields.

The camps are free for current ACS and RCSS seventh- and eighth-graders, and lunch will be provided. Morning and afternoon transportation will not be provided.

Employees will be eligible for a daily stipend of $120, as long as they are not on contract during the week of camp.

The deadline to register is Wednesday, May 15. Space is limited.
