ASHEBORO (Aug. 19, 2020)
Elastic Therapy Inc. recently donated 4,800 masks to Randolph Community College. The donation was part of more than 40,000 sent to all the local school systems — Asheboro City Schools, Randolph County Schools, and Uwharrie Charter Academy — to cover all students, faculty, teachers, and staff.
RCC plans on distributing the masks throughout its campuses for anyone who needs one. Fall semester started Monday at the College, and face coverings are required for students, faculty, and staff to protect the safety of others.
"RCC could not do all we do for students without the extraordinary support of our many community partners who believe in our mission.” RCC President Dr. Robert S. Shackleford Jr. said. “We are very grateful to our friend, Dr. Chris Harrington, [Director of Operations & General Manager] at Elastic Therapy Inc., for his incredibly generous gift to RCC of 4,800 face masks to help protect our students, faculty, and staff from COVID-19. It is friends and partners like that who enable us to effectively serve our community. Together, we can do great things!"
The company, a world leader in medical compression hosiery manufacturing, began making masks in April to support the growing need in the community. ETI also is a charter member of Apprenticeship Randolph.
For those students, faculty, and staff with a latex allergy, RCC has latex-free masks available.
