Human Resource Development workshops at RCC April 6-7 *EVENTS POSTPONED*

ASHEBORO (March 9, 2020)

*Update as of March 16, 2020*

Due to COVID-19 on-campus changes, these workshops and job fair are postponed until further notice.

Randolph Community College is hosting three free Human Resource Development workshops April 6-7 to help prepare for the job-search process and for RCC’s Job Fair.

The first workshop, “Dress for Success,” discusses how what you wear and how you look makes a difference in you getting hired. Appropriate attire supports your image as a person who takes the interview process seriously and understands the nature of the industry in which you are trying to become employed. The workshop is Monday, April 6, from 2-4 p.m. and Tuesday, April 7 from 9-11 a.m.

“Nail the Interview & Get Hired” focuses on the interview skills needed to secure a job offer. Students will gain awareness and confidence to succeed in various types of interview formats, including screening, behavioral, panel, computer, and telephone interviews. Students will participate in activities designed to help develop the self-assurance needed to succeed in the interview. The class also helps students manage interview anxiety by providing sound practice in the form of mock interviews. The role energy, enthusiasm, likeability, and confidence play in obtaining gainful employment will be reviewed.

This interview workshop is Monday, April 6, from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., and Tuesday, April 7, from 2-4 p.m.

“The Resumé and Beyond” shows students how to build an effective resumé and understand the purpose of the resumé, its parts, and its format. Participants will identify their natural strengths and how they relate to career success, identify their personal brand, develop an elevator speech, and learn how to ask and answer interview questions to get the job.

The workshop is Monday, April 6, from 9-11 a.m., and Tuesday, April 7 from 11:30 .am.-1:30 p.m.

All of the workshops are in room 120 of the Computer Technology Center on the Asheboro Campus.

RCC’s Job Fair is slated for Thursday, April 9, from 1-4 p.m. in the JB & Claire Davis Corporate Training Center, which also is on the Asheboro Campus. There is no cost to attend.

Attendees will earn one entry each for attendance at any workshop and for attendance at RCC’s Job Fair for a drawing for a first-place prize — a $75 Amazon gift card. The second-place winner will receive a $25 gift card from the RCC Campus Store.
