Randolph Community College’s Workforce Development and Continuing Education Division is offering “Fundamentals of HVAC” — a course designed to provide students with the introductory skills required to become employed as an apprentice in the heating and air conditioning field.
It is a comprehensive course focusing on the operating principles of heating systems with emphasis on safety, ventilation, types of heating/cooling systems, Ohm’s law, load calculation, troubleshooting using the various types of test equipment, servicing, and repairing. This course will prepare students to sit for the CFC Certification, which will be administered during the class for an additional $25. The majority of the class will be theory with some hands-on application.
The required textbook, “Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technology, 8th Edition,” can be purchased through the RCC Bookstore for approximately $192.
This class (#69616) meets from 5:30-9:30 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, April 24-Aug. 14, in room 104 of the Building Trades Center in the Asheboro Campus. The cost is $180.55.
