Looking to become an expert in Microsoft Excel or QuickBooks or trained as a pharmacy technician? Randolph Community College’s Workforce Development and Continuing Education Division is offering “Microsoft Excel, Basic,” “Pharmacy Technician Hybrid,” and “QuickBooks, Introduction” classes. All three begin in January.
In “MS Excel, Basic,” students will learn to create/edit simple worksheets, work with menus and toolbars, use basic formulas, format entries, merge cells, hide/unhide rows/columns along with date and time functions, text alignment, inserting and deleting columns/rows, freezing/unfreezing cells, splitting the window, and page breaks.
The class (#68567) meets from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Jan. 8-Feb.14 in room 106 of the Continuing Education and Industrial Center (CEIC) on the Asheboro Campus. The cost is $70.
The 100-hour “Pharmacy Technician Hybrid” course prepares students to sit for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE) and enter the field as a Pharmacy Technician I. This class will cover medical terminology, identifying drugs by generic and brand names, interpreting prescriptions, calculating dosages, etc. Upon completion, students should be able to perform basic supervised dispensing techniques in a variety of pharmacy settings and be prepared for national certification examination. The class requires successful completion of the entrance exam assessing basic math.
The course (#67680), which runs Jan. 8-April 23, meets online and every Tuesday from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in room 117 of the Administration/Education Center on the Asheboro Campus. The cost is $180, plus the cost of a textbook — “ The Pharmacy Technician, Foundations & Practices” (with Access Code), ISBN #9780133943467 — can be purchased in RCC Campus Store for $171.68.
“QuickBooks, Introduction” begins Jan. 14 and runs through Feb. 25 on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-8 p.m. in room 106 if the CEIC on the Asheboro Campus.
In this course (#68418), students will learn how to do accounting for their businesses using this popular accounting software. Topics will include using special journals and subsidiary ledgers and generating professional financial statements.
The cost is $70.
