Rancourt’s T-shirt design represents the theme for the skills competition, “Job Ready Day One.” It features a North Carolina map on the front with the words “I’m ready!” On the back, different occupations are depicted with the words, “Are You Ready?”
Rancourt is a senior at Randolph Early College High School, where he will take a fifth year to complete the Advertising & Graphic Design program at RCC. In addition to the associate degree, Rancourt plans to obtain the new Intro to Gaming Design certificate that RCC is offering, then consider transferring to a four-year school.
In addition to the SkillsUSA competition, Rancourt recently participated in a BETA Club digital art competition, where he earned a 2nd place in digital art for a comic strip that highlights the club’s service event – the Big Sweep cleanup at the Worthville Dam area. He also worked on a group project to create a video highlighting the club, which also earned a 2nd place, and teamed with another student to design a pin for a Trading Pin competition, which placed 3rd. He has served as vice president of the BETA Club this year.
Rancourt is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and works part time at both Homeland Creamery and Beaver Creek Restaurant. He is the son of Debbie Collins of Staley and Richard Rancourt of Ramseur.
