Illustration, Genealogy Among Classes to Start at Randolph Community College on May 16

Randolph Community College’s Workforce Development and Continuing Education Division is offering a variety of courses starting in early May, including courses on fantasy illustration and genealogy.

“The Art of Fantasy Illustration” is a new course that will begin on Tuesday, May 16, and will meet from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, through June 22. Students will learn the secrets and techniques to bring stories and characters to life in a professional and informative manner. Instruction will begin with basic drawing and structure then advance to color, painting, and storytelling. Students will provide their own materials. This class is being taught by local artist and illustrator Bill Lunsford. The cost is $70, and the class will be held in the Building Trades Center on the Asheboro Campus.

“Discover Your Genealogy I – Growing Your Family Tree,” the first of a series of genealogy courses this spring, will allow students to research their ancestors and build their family trees. The course will meet from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, May 16-June 1 on the Asheboro Campus. The cost is $25. “Discover Your Genealogy II” will begin June 6 and “Discover Your Genealogy III” will begin June 27; they will meet on the same days of the week and times.
