Qualifications:
Educational Requirements:
Required
- N.C. Certified EMT-Paramedic or licensed RN, MD, NP or PA (or Certified EMT-I for applicable courses)
- EMS Instructor Methodology course
- Associate Degree in EMS or related field or combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 5 years of full time EMS field experience
- Minimum 2 years of EMS instructional experience at the BLS level (minimum 200 formal teaching hours)
- Computer skills- (Word processing, spreadsheets, database)
- In good standing with Randolph County EMS System and State of NC
- Obtain and maintain Level I Instructor designation within one year of initial contract. (Lead instructor must be a minimum of a Level II)
- Criminal Background check (clean for at least 7 years and no felonies)
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct classes according to the EMT-Paramedic National Standard Curriculum or the North Carolina EMT-Intermediate objectives by utilizing appropriate educational methodologies.
- Adhere to all State and institutional policies regarding attendance and performance (80% attendance and 80% final grade).
- Communicate with ALS Coordinator any deficiencies or achievements of students based upon skills performance.
- Meet the class as determined by the Dean or Director
- Maintain good public relations with all areas of the college and the community.
- Maintain order and care of facilities and equipment (medical and educational).
- Attend part time instructional faculty orientation upon initial contract as well as attend required program specific instructor updates. Other professional development opportunities such as biannual meetings, college faculty meetings, and other conferences will be offered part-time instructional staff.
- Perform annual scope of practice evaluation to level of credential. (EMS System Scope of Practice
- Perform other duties as assigned.
