The Nursing Admissions Coordinator is under the supervision of the Director of Admissions/Registrar.  The Nursing Admissions Coordinator responsibilities include conducting admissions counseling with nursing students seeking to enter the College, assist in coordinating an institutional testing program for nursing students, assist with nursing recruiting activities, and provide a comprehensive program of health care career guidance and planning. 


Minimum Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in nursing with a current unrestricted license as a registered nurse in North Carolina, counseling, or psychology.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact positively with diverse groups of people with various backgrounds and interests.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the role of student services in the learning college.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the comprehensive community college philosophy.
  • A strong record of exemplary customer service skills.

Preferred:

  • Master’s Degree in counseling, psychology, or nursing with a current unrestricted license as a registered nurse in North Carolina.
  • Documented experience administering the HOBET test and interpreting test scores for nursing students.
  • Documented experience administering career inventories and providing career guidance.
  • Documented experience in a health care field or counseling, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Spoken and written proficiency in a foreign language

Duties & Responsibilities:

DUTIES:

  • Assist in conducting admissions counseling with nursing students seeking to enter the College.
  • Assist in coordinating an institutional testing program for nursing students, including management of placement testing records.
  • Provide assistance at registration for nursing students.
  • Assist the Director of Recruiting with recruiting efforts, including helping with tour groups, senior workshops, College Days, follow-up visits, and other nursing recruiting activities.
  • Provide a comprehensive program of health care career guidance and planning with up-to-date career information, materials, and counseling techniques.
  • Share with Student Services Counselors the responsibility of transcript evaluation for general education transfer credit for nursing students.
  • Provide other duties as required by the Director of Admissions/Registrar.

  • Act as a team player when working with any and all employees of the College
