Uwharrie Dreams

What is Uwharrie Dreams?

Uwharrie Dreams supports and advances RCC student endeavors in all genres of creative writing and the visual arts. We encourage creative exploration, self-expression, teamwork, and the development of skills in current and emerging media. If interested in joining our community, simply include with your submission a brief expression of interest in order to be added to our mailing list.

Uwharrie Dreams is a club for students interested in creative writing, under the auspices of the SGA. It began in 2003, as part of the fine arts activities for RCC students. This group helps students prepare submissions to RCC’s Writers Contest, sponsored annually by the SGA.

“Horses are a beloved part of the landscape in Iceland, and Icelanders are dependent on them in many ways. This photo was taken along the southern part of Iceland’s Ring Road, where they seem to pepper the landscape at every turn.” – Caley Cassell, Featured Photographer and Sociology Instructor at Randolph Community College

Uwharrie Dreams welcomes submissions in both poetry and flash fiction (very short fiction) in response to the image above. One winner will be chosen by Uwharrie Dreams advisors (also English instructors) to be featured on this webpage for one month.

The call for submissions is in effect until Monday, November 6, 2017. All submissions should be sent in Microsoft Word (.docx) format to the following email address: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
