Randolph Community College Awarded
$92,770 Grant from Kate B. Reynolds

ASHEBORO, N.C.—Randolph Community College has been awarded a $92,770 grant by the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust of Winston-Salem, according to John H. Frank, director of the Health Care Division of the charitable trust.

The money is designated for capital and operating funds for the start-up of a new Radiography program at the College, according to Dr. Richard Heckman, Randolph Community College president. Funds from this Kate B. Reynolds Trust grant will be combined with grant funds from the Moses Cone and Randolph Hospital Health Foundations totaling $10,000 and grants from Randolph Hospital, Lexington Memorial Hospital, and Thomasville Medical Center totaling $12,000.

“The partnerships that RCC has been able to form with local and regional health care providers and foundations are essential to the College’s ability to develop and offer quality education and training in the fast growing health care field,” said Heckman. “Randolph Community College is committed to providing the educational programs and services required to prepare Randolph County residents, and especially our displaced workers, for high paying, sustainable careers in a changing economy.” Randolph Community College was founded in 1962 and serves over 2,600 curriculum students a year. The Radiography associate degree program will begin in fall 2003.

The Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust was created in 1947 by the will of Mrs. William N. Reynolds of Winston-Salem. Three-fourths of the Trust’s grants are designated for use for health-related programs and services across North Carolina and one-fourth for the poor and needy of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County.
