RCC Office Systems Technology Program
Adds Diploma and Two Certificate Options

ASHEBORO, N.C.—Randolph Community College's Office Systems Technology program will begin the fall semester with changes that will better meet the needs of the graduates and employers in the office support area, according to Amy Brantley, program head and instructor.

A new one-year diploma program will prepare individuals who want to enter, upgrade, or retrain in the office occupation field. Special emphasis is on keyboarding, records management, office computations, application software, and basic office responsibilities.

The two-year associate degree program prepares individuals for positions in administrative support careers. Planned study includes courses to develop proficiency in the use of application software as well as customer service, project management, people skills, desktop publishing, and Spanish. A cooperative work experience has been added to provide the student with related work experience.

There are two new certificate programs: Basic Office Skills and Computer Software Applications. These programs are designed for individuals who are interested in acquiring knowledge and skills in word processing, spreadsheet, database, and basic office responsibilities.

All of the Office Systems Technology options are available in the day or evening. The evening diploma program can be finished in two years; the evening degree program in three years.
