N.C. Manufacturing Certification
Level II Course Begins Sept. 8 at RCC

 

ASHEBORO, N.C.—Randolph Community College will offer the “Level II - Plastics Injection Molding” course in the North Carolina Manufacturing Certification Program beginning Sept. 8.

This course is designed to provide basic training for plastics injection molding machine operators. Training is provided in general knowledge of plastics and plastics injection molding operations and procedures. Topics include introduction to the injection molding process; plastics materials; quality assurance; handling, storage, packaging, and delivery of plastics material; tools; problem solving and troubleshooting; general plant safety procedures; auxiliary equipment; applications, safe and efficient setup/start-up operations and shutdown procedures; process monitoring and control; preventive and corrective actions; and secondary operations. The cost of the course is $60 plus a textbook which costs approximately $25.

The course is available two times in September at the Asheboro Campus. The first class (#0303602) will meet from 9 a.m. - 12 noon, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, Sept. 8 - Nov. 24. The second class (#0303603) will meet from 6 - 10 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, Sept. 8 - Dec. 3.

The N.C. Manufacturing Certification Program is a competency-based program offered through North Carolina’s community colleges. It provides North Carolinians with enhanced career opportunities in manufacturing and provides manufacturers with a world-class workforce. It has been developed utilizing industry-based skill standards, manufacturing skill surveys, and interviews with leading North Carolina manufacturers. The program consists of a foundation fundamentals program that offers successful completers a Level I Registration, and Level II Industry-Specific Skills certification programs which offer more advanced skills in specific industry or manufacturing skills disciplines. A “Level I - Fundamentals” course will be offered beginning in October.
