Openings Available In RCC Pottery Classes
ASHEBORO, N.C.--Randolph Community College has a limited number
of openings in its Pottery classes beginning in February on the Asheboro
Campus.
RCC's Pottery program is divided into four distinct, sequential sections
requiring about two years to complete. In the first semester, all students
will begin with Clay Properties & Handbuilding. After that introductory
course, students will complete a sequential program that includes wheelwork,
glaze chemistry, and firing dynamics. Each course involves two sessions
a week: one class, one lab. By the final portion of the program, students
are expected to have developed a distinctive style of their own and be
capable of producing marketable work. Student evaluation is based upon
successful completion of course objectives and a demonstration of skills.
The morning "Pottery I-Clay Properties & Handbuilding"
class (#0404098) will begin Monday, Feb. 2. The 32-session class will
meet from 9 a.m. - 12 noon on Mondays and Wednesdays through May 19. Louis
Ragsdale will be the instructor.
Two evening classes are scheduled. The first (#0404105) will meet from
6:30 - 9:30 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, Feb. 2 - May 19. The second
class (#0404106) will meet from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays,
Feb. 3 - May 25. Pat Newby is the instructor for the evening classes.
Registration fee is $60 (waived for those 65 years of age or older),
plus $35 for supplies. Prospective students should call (336) 633-0216
