RCC Welcomes New Staff
ASHEBORO, N.C.—One new faculty member and two new staff
members have joined Randolph Community College recently.
Dr. Donna M. Perry has joined RCC full time as the new biology instructor
in the General Education department. Perry has worked part time at RCC
since May 2002 as a Continuing Education instructor and since August 2002
as an adjunct instructor for Curriculum. A native of Buffalo, N.Y., Perry
earned her B.A. in biology and secondary education from Canisius College
in Buffalo, and her Ph.D. from Syracuse University. Perry also attended
Centre Nationale de la Recherche Scientifique in Marseille, France, to
study pyrimidine biochemistry. Previously Perry was employed as a research
associate at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for four
years, as a visiting lecturer at UNC for one year, and as a hand weaver
for Hickory Mountain Weavery for six years. Perry lives in Asheboro; she
is the daughter of Wallace and Katherine Lastowski of Buffalo.
Tanya Marie Beckerdite has been hired as director of institutional effectiveness
for RCC. A native of Forest Hill, La., Beckerdite graduated from Rapides
High School in LeCompte, La., and attended Louisiana State University
in both Alexandria and Baton Rouge, where she graduated with a B.A. in
psychology with minors in Spanish and Anthropology. Beckerdite also earned
her master’s degree in social work from LSU. She is a licensed clinical
social worker and certified rape crisis counselor and was most recently
employed as program coordinator and evaluator for the Randolph County
Partnership for Children in Asheboro. Other previous jobs include licensed
clinical psychotherapist for the Central North Carolina School for Deaf
and the Blumenthal Jewish Home. In addition, Beckerdite is a consultant/trainer,
teaching a prep class for the North Carolina chapter of the National Association
of Social Workers (NASW) for candidates who want to become licensed clinical
psychotherapists. She is a board member of the Center for Creative Arts
in Greensboro and volunteers as an evaluator for Asheboro City Schools
Early Childhood Development Center. Beckerdite lives in Randleman with
her husband, Eric. She is the daughter of Daniel W. Richmond Jr. of Forest
Hill, La.
Judith Ann Rowe has joined RCC’s housekeeping staff. A native of
Tazewell, Va., Rowe graduated from Tazewell High School and has taken
clerical classes at RCC. Rowe previously worked for K&W Cafeteria,
Black & Decker, Resortwear, and Sherry’s Restaurant. She and
her husband, Roger, live in Ramseur.
