RCC Offers Business & Industry
Courses in February

 

ASHEBORO, N.C.--Several Randolph Community College courses set to begin in February are designed to benefit area businesses and industries and their workers.

Two OSHA classes are scheduled to be held at the Liberty Town Hall. An OSHA Compliance Workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 4, from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. There is no charge for the workshop (#0306045). Topics include OSHA inspections; safety plans; communications; lockout/tagout, first aid, bloodborne pathogens, hearing conservation, fire extinguisher, confined space, and good faith policies; protective equipment; safety self-inspection log; frequently cited standards; employer and employee responsibilities; penalty schedule for violations; and compliance training.

Specific OSHA record keeping requirements are covered in the OSHA Record Keeping class planned for Tuesday, Feb. 25, from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Registration is $50 for the class (#0306046), and topics include location of records, retention and maintenance of records, recordable and not recordable incidents, access to OSHA records, correct and incorrect forms, and emergency action plans.

The Level 1-Fundamentals class of the N.C. Manufacturing Certification Program will begin Tuesday, Feb. 4, at the Asheboro Campus. The class (#0306038) will meet on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., through March 19. In this course, students are introduced to the basic concepts of manufacturing. This competency-based program provides North Carolinians with enhanced career opportunities in manufacturing and provides manufacturers with a world-class workforce. Cost is $65 plus $25 for a textbook.

Companies making metal products or doing tool and die work will benefit from sending key personnel to a one-day seminar on solving heat treating and metal failure problems to be held at RCC's Asheboro Campus on Tuesday, Feb. 18. In the Metallurgy & Heat Treating Seminar & Clinic, Bob Edwards, PE, will explain the structure of industrial metals, how they fail in service, and how their behavior can be altered by practical methods. Registration for the seminar (#0306031), which will be held from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., is $50.
