Randolph Community College Artists'
Works Featured In Raleigh Exhibition
ASHEBORO, N.C.--Three works by Randolph Community College artists
have been chosen for the 2003 President's Art Exhibition by the North
Carolina Community College System office. The exhibit, which has been
held annually since 1998, features artwork from community colleges throughout
the state. The art will remain on display throughout 2003.
Chosen were a brilliant color image of a Bird of Paradise plant photographed
by Greg Stewart, Photographic Technology instructor; an interesting study
of hands photographed by Drew Morris, Photographic Technology student;
and a piece of pottery titled "Joy" created by continuing education
student Amy Peraldo.
Stewart has been an instructor at RCC since 1981 and departmental chair
since January 2001. He lives in Sophia. Morris has earned an associate
degree in Portrait Studio Management and is working on a second degree
in Commercial Photography from RCC. He is from Virgilina, Va. First-year
pottery student Amy Peraldo lives in Asheboro and works at Kings Pottery
in Seagrove.
The opening reception for the artists will be Thursday, March 20, from
4 - 6 p.m., at the Caswell Building in Raleigh.
In addition, two pieces of artwork displayed in the 2002 exhibition have
been chosen to be displayed at the North Carolina Department of Insurance
in the Dobbs Building in Raleigh during 2003. Chosen were an untitled
black-and-white print of a bicycle against a backdrop of storm clouds
by Morris, and a large color photo titled "Vases," by 1996 RCC
Photographic Technology graduate Jeannie Horton Eames. Eames lives in
Landis.
