Two APICS Certification Courses
to Begin in September at RCC in Archdale

 

ARCHDALE, N.C.—If you are new to production and inventory management, or want to become certified by the American Production & Inventory Control Society, Randolph Community College is offering two APICS courses in September on the Archdale Campus.

“Basics of Supply Chain Management” is an introductory course for production and inventory management personnel and CPIM candidates. This course provides basic definitions and concepts for planning and controlling the flow of materials into, through, and out of an organization. It explains fundamental relationships among the activities that occur in the supply chain from suppliers to customers. In addition, the course addresses types of manufacturing systems, forecasting, master planning, materials requirements planning, capacity management, production activity control, purchasing, inventory management, distribution, quality management, and Just-In-Time manufacturing.

The course (#0303558) will meet on Wednesdays, 6 - 9 p.m., Sept. 3 - Nov. 12. Cost is $60, plus approximately $190 for a text, basic references, and practice exam.

“Execution & Control of Operations” focuses on three main areas: prioritizing and sequencing work; executing work plans, implementing controls, and reporting activity results; and evaluating and providing feedback on performance. Techniques for scheduling and controlling production and process operations, the execution of quality initiatives and continuous improvement plans, and controlling and handling inventories are covered. Finally, the course presents techniques for evaluating performance and collecting data for effective feedback.

The course (#0306001) will meet on Thursdays, 6 - 9 p.m., Sept. 11 - Nov. 13. The cost is $55, plus approximately $155 for a text, basic references, and practice exam.

The APICS courses are designed to provide refresher training for anyone desiring to become certified in the APICS CPIM (Certified in Production & Inventory Management) program, or may be taken by anyone wanting to gain knowledge or improve skills in the topic areas being presented.
