Randolph Community College's
Human Resources Development program has added a new course for
fall at the Asheboro Campus and the Archdale Center, titled "Opportunities
in Healthcare Careers." Students in this class will explore
various healthcare career opportunities in this region and discover
employment opportunities. Topics will include careers in Emergency
Medical Services, Paramedic, Emergency Medical Dispatcher, Certified
Nursing Assistant, Medical Office Assistant, Phlebotomy, Nursing,
Healthcare Management, and more.
Participants will learn the academic requirements for completion
of various healthcare courses of study, learn about available financial
aid for retraining, learn how to prepare a career portfolio, and
how to utilize the Internet to research job skills and opportunities.
They will participate in hands-on activities to help them explore
career options, and visit real community resources.
In addition, students will strengthen their workplace skills in
Reading for Information, Applied Math, Observation, Teamwork, and
Locating Information using the KeyTrain System, and students will
have the opportunity to earn their Career Readiness Certification.
Asheboro Campus classes meet from 12:30-3:30 p.m., Monday through
Friday. Three sections are available meeting the following dates:
Aug. 20-Sept. 24, Sept. 24-Oct. 23, and Oct. 24-Nov. 20. The Archdale
Center class will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays, 6-9 p.m., Oct.
15-Dec. 19.
All classes are fee-waived for those who are unemployed or underemployed.
