Thirty-three RCC Students to be Inducted Into Honor Society

ASHEBORO (April 19, 2007)

Thirty-three students will be welcomed into Beta Theta Rho, Randolph Community College’s Five-Star Phi Theta Kappa chapter, during the spring induction ceremony at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, in the Learning Resources Center auditorium. Dr. Robert Shackleford Jr., RCC president, will be the guest speaker.

A reception will be held in the lobby following the ceremony.

Phi Theta Kappa is the only internationally acclaimed honor society serving two-year institutions that offer associate degree programs. The organization serves to nurture its members and associates by sponsoring meetings that educate, stimulate and enrich. It affords international recognition to students of distinguished achievement and provides a vehicle that reflects the academic integrity of the associate degree program. The Five Star status for PTK chapters recognizes progress in the attainment of goals set by the chapter. These chapters have met a higher standard of quality programming.

In order to become a member of PTK, a student must have completed 12 hours of credit, have declared a major, carry a full-time course load, and maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

RCC’s Phi Theta Kappa advisors are Carol Savchak, coordinator of social/behavioral sciences and sociology instructor, and Waymon Martin, business administration instructor.
