Charles Skeen,
Randolph Community College’s Student Government Association
president, received the Daryl Mitchell Award for the central
division at the N4CSGA Conference held at Research Triangle
Park March 9-11.
The
N4CSGA is a student-based and student-run association for area community
colleges whose purpose is to promote better student government, academic
achievement and fellowship within the community colleges in North
Carolina.
Skeen, of
Asheboro, is currently enrolled in three courses of study at
RCC, Machining Technology, Business Administration and Electrical/Electronics
Technology. In addition to being the SGA president, he is an
RCC Foundation Ambassador and a Dean’s
List student.
Daryl Mitchell
played a significant role in the success of the N4CSGA during
his tenure as president. This award is given in his honor to
a student who demonstrates the leadership qualities upon which
the organization is founded. The students honored with this
award demonstrate the six pillars of character: trustworthiness,
respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.
Those honored use the six pillars of character to serve their
community and local community college. One student from each
of the three divisions was selected as an “Outstanding Student.”
