Baltes Receives Scholarship for Bachelor’s Degree Study

Stephen J. Baltes, program head and instructor for Computer Information Technology, received a North Carolina Community College System scholarship recently to help pay for coursework taken toward earning his bachelor’s degree. Baltes is attending High Point
University and expects to finish his degree next spring. Under the program, community college faculty and staff can receive a reimbursement of up to $3,000 per year for coursework taken towards a baccalaureate degree. “I believe this program is in place to inspire those of us without the bachelor’s degree to return to school so we can do an even better job of teaching our students,” said Baltes. “With the costs of higher education rising all the time, grants and scholarships such as these have made a big difference in my
being able to reach this next step in my education.”
