“I chose RCC because I wanted to get a head start on things, and I wanted to make my time more valuable.”
Trent Hughes of Ramseur started taking classes at Randolph Community College the summer of his 16th birthday while he was enrolled at Eastern Randolph High School. He took most of his classes online and one at his high school, totaling 19 credit hours. After graduating from Eastern Randolph in 2008, Trent went to Costa Rica with RCC to study Spanish I & II and Biology. By the end of summer, he had added 10 more credit hours.
All 29 credits transferred to Appalachian State University when he enrolled there in the fall of 2008. Trent said, “My parents encouraged me to take these classes and to tell the truth, I really did not want to because I played football, participated in community theater, and worked part-time. Now that I have, I am so glad I listened to them. The online classes were challenging; however, I learned more about what to expect when I got to college.”
Now after finishing his first year at Appalachian, Trent is already a junior. He is double majoring in public relations and marketing.
