"When I first started, I felt so much more competent than the other new nurses. I was very well prepared and had more hands-on knowledge thanks to the clinicals at RCC."
De-Anne Frazier of Randleman works as a public health nurse for the Guilford County Department of Public Health. She is assigned to work with child protective services as a case manager overseeing the health care of children in foster care.
She graduated from Randolph Community College's Associate Degree Nursing program in 1998, going on to UNCG to earn her B.S. in Nursing in 2002.
Her first job was at High Point Regional Hospital in respiratory and oncology departments. "When I first started, I felt so much more competent than the other new nurses," she says. "I was very well prepared and had more hands-on knowledge thanks to the clinicals at RCC."
After deciding to go into community nursing, she joined Guilford County in March 2003. She said only a few counties in the state have health nurses associated with their social service departments.
