Randolph Community College: A History
How Armadillo Drive Got Its Name
Armadillo Drive was named when roads had to be named because of the use of 911. Randall Brim, Planning Director for the County, and Hal Johnson came up with this in order to “do something” for the College. Randall was a part-time instructor at the College at that time.
The Latin phrase on theRCC seal means
“He who earns the honor will bear it.”
The literal translation is “He who earns the palm will bear it,” The decision was made to use a broader translation, because it suited the application of the phrase better.
