RCC’s Greene Among Finalists for NCCCS Staff Award

Shelley Greene, senior director of marketing at Randolph Community College, has been selected as one of five finalists for the 2012 North Carolina Community College System Staff Award.
           
In October, nominations for Randolph Community College’s Staff Person of the Year award were solicited from college personnel, and Greene was chosen by the College’s Senior Leadership Team. She then competed against the winners from 30 other community colleges in the NCCCS for the System award. The other four statewide finalists are Don Herring, Coastal Carolina Community College; Darryl McGraw, Wake Technical Community College; Kevin Tyburski, Piedmont Community College; and Dawn Veliky, Halifax Community College. The winner will be announced on April 19 at the North Carolina Community College Excellence Event in Raleigh.
           
“Shelley Greene brought an incredible amount of talent, energy, ideas, and enthusiasm to RCC and made an immediate and ongoing very positive impact,” said RCC President Robert Shackleford. “Everyone who works with her agrees that she is a special person and talent. We are so blessed to have her at RCC.”
           
Greene is currently participating in the North Carolina Community College Leadership Program. She is vice president of the RCC Staff Association, is a member of the National Council of Marketing and Public Relations, and is a member of the North Carolina Public Relations, Information, and Marketing Association.
           
Since Greene joined Randolph Community College in October 2008, she has led a successful initiative to implement a new college brand, developed new marketing objectives and strategies for college programs and departments, and has put RCC on the forefront of community colleges using new web technology and social media. She previously worked as marketing coordinator for Randolph Telephone in Asheboro and as manager/marketing director for Prescription Shoppe in Aberdeen.
           
Greene is active in various community organizations, currently serving as chair of the Asheboro/Randolph Chamber of Commerce Marketing Committee, and she was on the Membership Committee for the Chamber for five years. She is a member of the Randolph County Economic Development Corporation Marketing Committee and the City of Asheboro Branding/Marketing Committee. She is also the treasurer for the Highfalls Elementary School PTA.
           
She has been a presenter at the N.C. Adult Educators Association Conference and for the Wheatmore High School EmpowerU Series, as well as periodically teaching marketing classes for RCC’s Small Business Center. Greene was a 2010 Leadership Randolph graduate and a Dale Carnegie participant in 2007.
           
Greene earned a B.A. in Mass Communication/Marketing from Campbell University, graduating Magna Cum Laude, and completed her Master of Science degree in Integrated Marketing Communication in West Virginia University’s online master’s program, graduating with a 4.0 GPA.
           
Greene lives in Highfalls with her husband, Kyle, and their two children, Noah and Lily. She is the daughter of Johnny and Gloria Welch and the granddaughter of Daphne Welch of Highfalls.
