The Planning Committee for the Randolph Community College Foundation's 2012 Dancing with the Randolph Stars benefit has been finalized. Prominent community members will compete on the dance floor on Saturday, June 2, 2012, at AVS Catering & Banquet Centre, with monetary votes going to support scholarships for Randolph Community College students.
Community leaders Ann Hoover and Vickie Gallimore will co-chair the Planning Committee for the third year in a row. "Randolph Community College is one of the county's greatest assets and will touch the entire population into the next century," said Gallimore, of serving on the Planning Committee. "As once said, knowledge is power, and RCC helps us give future generations the opportunity to build Randolph County into something we all can be proud of. This noble cause is all the incentive I need to participate in this special event."
Hoover noted, "I believe in the direction RCC is headed under the guidance of Dr. Shackleford; the needs are many, and this has been our most successful means of fundraising in several years. The event is popular in the community and reaps visibility for the College. I am very honored to be asked and have enjoyed my role in providing much-needed scholarships."
The Planning Committee also includes RCC staff and the following community members (with subcommittee chairs noted): Kaye Bryan and Laura Wilson, Sponsorship Subcommittee co-chairs; Lisa Huffman, Event/Venue Subcommittee chair; Gail McDowell and Cindy Schroder, Dancers Subcommittee co-chairs; Pat Allred, Talmadge Baker, Gail Crawford, Jane Crisco, Rhonda Eblin, Carol Fountain, Sheila Hedrick, Kathy Homiller, Janet Jones, and Diane Winnemuller.
The following community members are serving exclusively on the Sponsorship Subcommittee: Rick Crawford, Dr. Stuart Fountain, Carla Freemyer, Neal Griffin, Bill Hoover, Cranford Knott, Curt Lorimer, Fred Meredith, and Dean Sexton.
DVDs of last year's Dancing with the Randolph Stars are still available for $25 if ordered by mail and $20 if purchased in person. The professionally produced DVD features dance performances, video clips of practices and dancer interviews, additional entertainment acts, and the announcement of the champions.
