Schroder Named to RCC Board of Trustees

Dr. Cindy Schroder, retired deputy superintendent of Randolph County Schools, has been appointed to serve a four-year term on the Randolph Community College Board of Trustees. Schroder was appointed to the Board by N.C. Governor Beverly Perdue and will take her oath of office at the Board's regular meeting Sept. 15. She replaces Jack Lail, who retired from the board after 16 years, serving both as chair and vice chair during that period.

Schroder is currently president of the Randolph Community College Foundation Board of Directors. She served as vice president during the 2010-2011 school year and has been on the Foundation Board since July 2006. She also currently serves as secretary of Hospice of Randolph County and is a member of the Randolph/Asheboro YMCA Board of Trustees. She retired from Randolph County Schools on July 31, 2005.

Schroder is past president of the Asheboro/Randolph Chamber of Commerce and was honored with the Athena Award from that organization in 1997 for outstanding contributions to the community and her profession.

After completing her bachelor's degree in Home Economics (Child Development) at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Schroder earned an M.A. in Special Education, an Ed.S. in Curriculum and Supervision, and an Ed.S. in Educational Administration from Appalachian State University. She completed her Ed.D. in Educational Administration from UNCG.

Schroder is a member of First United Methodist Church in Asheboro.
