James William "J.W." Kelley has joined Randolph Community College as vice president for student services. In this position, Kelley will set the direction for Student Services programs and activities that enhance opportunities for students to succeed. In addition, the vice president for student services oversees all areas of Student Services including student recruitment, enrollment management, admissions, placement/testing, orientation, registration and records, financial aid and veterans affairs, retention, student activities, student organizations, career development, counseling, the RCC Student Success Center, and the Information Center.
Kelley most recently worked for Fayetteville Technical Community College as division chair for the Humanities and Social Sciences Division. He has held a number of different administrative and leadership positions in student services through the years, including director of admissions and director of enrollment management at a college several times the size of RCC.
Kelley earned a B.A. from Johnson Bible College in Knoxville, Tenn., an M.A. in Counseling from Cincinnati Bible University in Ohio, and an Ed.D. in Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.
He was selected the statewide Staff Person of the Year for the North Carolina Community College System in 2010. He has also been very active in the Student Development Administrator's Association for many years.
Kelley and his wife, Katherine, recently relocated to Asheboro. They have three children.
