Randolph Community College and Crosscountry Truck Driving School in Thomasville have recently made some changes to the truck driving class to ensure ease of access for students. Every Tuesday there will be a recruiter on the Asheboro Campus to pre-approve and qualify potential drivers. A new class will begin every two weeks at RCC's Asheboro Campus with class hours from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. There are also plans to begin a weekend class.
The program will include classroom instruction and driving training. Students are trained on a variety of equipment including tanker, flatbed, dry van, and refrigerated units. The program prepares the prospective driver to understand safety, driver responsibility, and the laws and regulations governing the motor carrier industry.
Before enrolling, students must have a valid driver's license, a social security card, a Department of Transportation drug test and physical, a criminal background check, and a CDL-Permit with tanker endorsement by the second week of class. Students are responsible for the cost of these items.
The tuition for the truck driver training program is $2,290, which includes the use of a truck, fuel for driver training, and accident insurance.
Students can get an admission application with all the qualifications by contacting Randolph Community College in Asheboro at (336) 633-0268 or in Archdale at (336) 862-7980, or Crosscountry Truck Driving School at (336) 472-0024.
