John Rash, digital photography instructor at Randolph Community College, has won first place in the North Carolina State Confucius Institute China Experience Photo Contest. He will have three photos on display at the D.H. Hill Library at N.C. State during International Education Week, Nov. 17-21.
The winning photos were taken at a school for migrant children during a May 2008 trip to Beijing and Xi'an, China. This was Rash's third trip to China. He also received merit awards in the photo competition for two other photos taken during his visits to China in 2008 and 2006.
Rash hopes to return to Beijing in 2009 to spend more time documenting migrant children and women who are facing the challenge of integrating into the quickly developing cities of China.
