Randolph Community College will begin the 2008-2009 school year with new operating hours, thanks to a "green" initiative adopted by the RCC Board of Trustees during their July annual meeting. The College will close at 3 p.m. on Fridays, which will save thousands of dollars in utilities at a time when students are typically not on campus.
The standard workweek at Randolph Community College will continue to be a minimum of 40 hours, with each supervisor responsible for ensuring that his or her employees have worked their 40 hours before they are dismissed at 3 p.m. on Friday, which will also enable the College staff to better serve students after-hours during the week. Each vice president will maintain a file of the work plan for employees in his or her area.
Normal operating hours, beginning Monday, Aug. 18 when fall classes begin, will be 8 a.m. - 10 p.m. Monday-Thursday, and 8 a.m. - 3 p.m., Friday, with the Information Center opening at 7:30 a.m. each morning. In addition, the Information Center on the Asheboro Campus is open from 8 a.m. - 12 noon on Saturdays.
The College's Library in the R. Alton Cox Learning Resources Center is open on selected Saturdays throughout the school year for student use. Other sections of the College may be open at other times to accommodate weekend and evening classes.
The Archdale Center hours will be 8 a.m. - 10 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Friday. Operating hours at the Emergency Services Training Center depend on class schedules.
