Five Join RCC Foundation Board of Directors

ASHEBORO (July 30, 2008)

The Randolph Community College Foundation Board of Directors welcomed five new members this month. The new Foundation directors, serving three-year terms from July 1, 2008, through June 30, 2011, are Jim Foster, Wachovia Bank; J.B. Griffith III, Liberty Advisors; Ann M. Hoover, community leader; Waymon C. Martin, Randolph Community College; and Steve D. Williams, AXA Advisors.

The Foundation directors manage the business, property and affairs of the Foundation. In addition to setting policy regarding investments and expenditures, directors are ambassadors for RCC and the Foundation in the community helping to raise friends and secure contributions.

Elections took place in May, but the new board members attended their first board meeting on July 17. Also in May, the Board elected the following for renewed three-year terms (July 1, 2008-June 30, 2011): Vickie H. Gallimore, Neal Griffin III, Curt Lorimer.

Retiring from the Foundation board as of June 30, 2008, were K. Michael Freeland, Dr. David Gimenez, Kurt W. Sullivan, Dr. Melinda Lamb, Michael C. Miller, and P. Andrew Honeycutt.

The RCC Foundation Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation chartered to provide support to Randolph Community College. It is overseen by a volunteer board of directors made up of community leaders from throughout Randolph County. The Foundation raises money for scholarships and program support; provides College Innovation Fund mini-grants to staff, faculty and student teams; hosts an annual employee/retiree appreciation event; and funds high school achievement scholarships and the RCC Foundation Ambassador program.
