Curt Lorimer Joins RCC Board of Trustees
ASHEBORO (July 17, 2008)
Curt J. Lorimer was sworn in as a new member of the Randolph Community College Board of Trustees on Thursday, July 17, at the Board's annual meeting here. Lorimer was appointed to the RCC Board by the Asheboro City Schools Board of Education for a four-year term that runs through June 30, 2012.
A resident of Asheboro, Lorimer earned a bachelor of science in education and history from Dana College in Blair, Neb., a master of science in education and history from Long Island University, and a master of science in administration from Georgia State University.
Lorimer expressed his "enthusiasm and excitement for being a part of the Randolph Community College family. I bring a true commitment to the community college philosophy and a willingness to work hard towards meeting the goals of our strategic plan." Lorimer said his goals as a Trustee are to be supportive of the president and staff, to help implement and support the goals of the strategic plan, and to help Randolph Community College be the first choice of those seeking additional education.
Lorimer has been an employee of Asheboro City Schools for 23 years, presently as director of career and technical education. His past roles for ACS have included both a principal and assistant principal at South Asheboro Middle School, assistant principal at Charles W. McCrary Elementary School, and assistant principal at Asheboro High School.
He is active in several community roles, including 12 years with the Asheboro/Randolph Chamber of Commerce serving as a board member, vice president, and chair of the business/education committee. He has served on the United Way Board as president and chaired a United Way Campaign. He also served as chair of the Youth Council for the Piedmont Triad Region through the Workforce Development Board. He is a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church Council.
In addition, Lorimer has served as a member of the Randolph Community College Foundation Board of Directors for the last four years.
Lorimer and his wife, Vickie, have two children, Courtney Kelly and Brittany Laxton, and two grandsons, Conner and Brody.
