The final prints have dried, the entry fees paid, the last-minute entries have been logged, and the judging is now complete for the Randolph Community College Foundation's fifth annual photography competition. Forty photographers entered 121 photographs in this year's competition.

The placement of first, second, and best in show winners will be revealed at the Scholarship Auction & Gala Dinner to be held at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, at Pinewood Country Club. The evening will begin with dinner and a program, and will end with the photography awards and auction. The winning photographs will be custom matted and framed and available for purchase during the auction. In addition to the live auction of the winning photos, honorable mentions and other items will be auctioned by a silent auction held throughout the evening.
This new event combines the Foundation's scholarship fundraiser and the Photo Auction & Gala Reception. Last year's Gala drew nearly 100 people from across Randolph County. "It was a fun-filled evening for all in attendance. This year's event promises to be even better," said Joyce Wolford, executive director of the RCC Foundation. "We have some beautiful photographs for the auction. Participants will learn about the importance of Foundation scholarships to RCC's students and they'll have an opportunity to help by purchasing a beautiful photograph at the auction or making a pledge to the Community Scholarship Fund." All proceeds will benefit the Community Scholarship Fund. These scholarships are awarded to Randolph County students, and preference is given to students who are the first in their families to attend college.
The event is sponsored by Progress Energy, BB&T, CommunityOne, Randolph Hospital, Shaw Enterprises, A&M Construction Services, Embarq, RE/MAX Central Realty, Ship to Shore Cruises, The Timken Company, Elastic Therapy, Klaussner Home Furnishings, Sealy, Technimark, and Village Printing.
Tickets for the Gala are $50 per person and include dinner, beverages, the program and auction. Purchase tickets by sending your check payable to RCC Foundation to Joyce Wolford, RCC Foundation, P. O. Box 1009, Asheboro, NC 27204-1009. You may also order tickets or get more information by contacting Joyce at (336) 633-0295 or jbwolford@randolph.edu.
