Hundreds of firefighters and emergency services workers from across the state are expected to participate in 60 courses in firefighting, emergency care, rescue, safety and leadership skills at RCC's Emergency Services Weekend School set for March 7, 8 and 9. The event is cosponsored by Randolph County Fire Protection Association.
Ken Fields, director of emergency services programs for RCC, said this is the fourth year for the popular event, which features such classes as "Forcible Entry I & II," "Emergency Vehicle Driving," "Structural Collapse - Search Management," "Rescue Boat Operations," and "Railroad Emergencies."
Most of the classroom training will be held at the Asheboro Campus beginning Friday evening, with hands-on training at the Emergency Services Training Center on Old Cedar Falls Road Saturday and Sunday.
