RCC Employee Selected for Statewide Leadership Program

Michelle Cole

ASHEBORO (October 24, 2007) – Michelle Cole, director of the Human Resources Development program at Randolph Community College, has been selected to participate in the North Carolina Community College Leadership Program, a program that equips the staff and faculty of community colleges to be leaders amongst their colleagues.

Cole, who lives in Archdale, has worked with the college since 2006. Before joining RCC, she was the coordinator of the human resources development program for Wilkes Community College. She is a graduate of Bendle High School and has earned an A.A. degree from Wilkes Community College, a bachelor of science in applied communications from Appalachian State University, and a master’s degree in special education, also from Appalachian State University.

Cole and her husband, Russell, have two children, Benjamin and Samantha.

The NCCCLP was started in 1998 as a way of providing North Carolina’s community college employees with leadership training. Its goal is to develop future college leaders, and it believes that quality leadership is important on all administrative levels of community colleges and that excellence with equity can best be fostered through broad-based professional development opportunities offered to a diverse group.

Participants for the 2007-2008 program were selected through a competitive application process. They will attend workshops and seminars for the next six months, covering topics such as diversity, conflict resolution, and leading through change. Cole joins 35 other participants, representing 34 North Carolina community colleges.
