A two-day course covering the basics of handling and shipping hazardous materials will be offered at Randolph Community College's Asheboro Campus on Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 25 and 26 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
In "Hazardous Materials Shipping Training-DOT Regulations," students will learn about the classifications of various hazardous materials, as well as how to ship them using the 49CFR100-185 (DOT) Regulations Manual. Packing and marking shipments of hazardous materials, requirements for security plans, segregating materials, and documentation requirements will also be covered.
Each student must have a copy of the latest edition of the 49CFR100-185 (DOT) Regulations Manual. Enrollment fee is $350; course number is SEF3001CF77908.
"Dangerous Goods Shipping-IATA" is a one-day course, which will be offered on Thursday, Sept. 27, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., also on the Asheboro Campus. This course provides required information to properly ship dangerous goods using the IATA Standards Manual. Students will learn training, record keeping and compliance requirements as well as proper names, definitions and classifications of hazardous materials and dangerous goods. Students must have a current (2007) edition of the IATA manual which will be used extensively in this class. Registration fee is $250; course number is SEF3001CG77909.
