Web Programming & Development Certificate Program Added at Randolph Community College

ASHEBORO (July 19, 2007)

A new continuing education certificate program at Randolph Community College this fall will prepare graduates to start their careers in Web programming, according to Tina Dixon, coordinator of continuing education computer programs at RCC. The Web Programming & Development program can be completed in 12 months if students maintain a minimum of 15 hours a week in classes.

Students in this program will learn terminology, HTML, Java, database skills, and will be introduced to different packages such as Dreamweaver and Paint Shop Pro. In addition, they will learn to develop dynamic content and cascading style sheets needed to deliver rich and interactive Web content. Students entering the program need to have a basic background in computers, said Dixon.

Required courses include Principles of Web Design, HTML Essentials, Access Complete, Advanced HTML: Cascading Style Sheets, Paint Shop Pro 8 Techniques, and three electives. Classes will be a mixture of online offerings and traditional classes available at both the Asheboro Campus and the Archdale Center. Classes begin at various times in September.

Interested students should contact Tina Dixon at 336-633-0260 or tsdixon@randolph.edu for a schedule of classes, counseling or questions.
