Randolph Community College Graduation Set for Saturday, May 12

ASHEBORO (May 10, 2007)

Randolph Community College will award 671 degrees, diplomas and certificates from its curriculum and continuing education programs this spring. One hundred and ninety-two of those graduates are expected to cross the stage at the 2007 Graduation Ceremony, which begins at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 12, at the Asheboro High School football stadium. (Rain location is the Asheboro High School gymnasium.)

Curriculum students earn associate degrees, diplomas and certificates from the college’s credit programs. Continuing Education students include those who have earned their Adult High School diploma or their General Educational Development (GED) certification.

RCC President Dr. Robert S. Shackleford Jr. will host the graduation and introduce the speaker, Hilda Pinnix-Ragland, chair of the State Board of Community Colleges.

Dr. Phyllis E. Helms, vice president for instructional services, will present the candidates for graduation, with assistance from Christine G. Myers, dean of curriculum programs, and Dr. Rebekah H. Megerian, dean of basic skills. James M. Campbell Jr., chairman of the RCC Board of Trustees, will award the degrees, diplomas and certificates. Charles E. Skeen, president of the RCC Student Government Association, will make opening and closing remarks.

Faculty marshals for graduation will be W. Clark Adams, Dacia L. Murphy-Price, and M. Matthew Price. The RCC Student Ambassadors Sarah G. Moore, Jennifer L. Schober, William B. Smith, and Maria Torres-Garcia will serve as graduation marshals.

Following the ceremony, the College will host a reception for graduates and their guests in the Foundation Conference Center on the Asheboro Campus at 629 Industrial Park Avenue.
