Production and Inventory Management Courses – ARCHDALE OFF-CAMPUS CENTER
What These courses are offered in cooperation with the Piedmont Triad Chapter for APICS (American Productivity and Inventory Control Society) and are designed to provide refresher training for anyone desiring to become certified in the APICS CPIM (Certified in Production & Inventory Management) program, or may be taken by anyone wanting to gain knowledge or improve skills in the topic areas being presented. APICS is an international, not-for-profit educational organization respected worldwide for its prestigious professional certification programs. The CPIM program provides training courses in Basics of Supply Chain Management, Master Planning of Resources, Detailed Scheduling & Planning, Execution & Control of Operations, and Strategic Management of Resources.
Basics of Supply Chain Management
This is an introductory course for production and inventory management personnel and CPIM candidates. This course provides basic definitions and concepts for planning and controlling the flow of materials into, through, and out of an organization. It explains fundamental relationships among the activities that occur in the supply chain from suppliers to customers. In addition, the course addresses types of manufacturing systems, forecasting, master planning, materials requirements planning, capacity management, production activity control, purchasing, inventory management, distribution, quality management, and Just-In-Time manufacturing. Detailed Scheduling and Planning
This course focuses on materials and capacity scheduling and planning. It includes a detailed explanation of materials requirement planning (MRP), a technique suitable for use in job shops; an introduction to the materials planning technique of material-dominated scheduling, which is applicable to process industries and other mature production environments; and discussion of the details of capacity requirements planning, and an introduction of other capacity-planning techniques including processor-dominated scheduling.
