Lenton Slack Print Sale to Fund RCC’s Uwharrie Dreams
ASHEBORO (October 4, 2006) - The first of several fundraisers to support Randolph Community College’s Uwharrie Dreams Fine Arts Projects kicked off recently. Signed, limited-edition prints of a watercolor by well-known local artist Lenton Slack are being sold for $35 each. Uwharrie Dreams is currently a fine arts magazine, which features photographs, drawings, short stories and poems by students and faculty at RCC and members of the community.
RCC President Dr. Larry K. Linker purchased the first print of the painting, titled “Jumping Off Rock,” to support the project. Only 1,500 prints will be sold.
The scene depicted in “Jumping Off Rock,” according to Slack, is at Barnes Creek on a section of the Uwharrie Trail approximately halfway between Pisgah and Troy.
Slack said he painted the canvas partly on site and partly in his studio from photographs.
Slack has a long history with Randolph Community College, having taught Interior Design for the school for 30 years before retiring in 1999. In addition to painting, he currently works as a freelance interior designer. To order a copy of the print, please call the RCC Foundation at 336-633-0295, or download the order form.
