2006 Phi Theta Kappa Regional Convention

Phi Theta Kappa chapter Beta Theta Rho of Randolph Community College won awards and recognition in 10 categories during the Phi Theta Kappa Convention, held in Clemmons on March 10-12. The awards were:

  • Golden Ring challenge - for promoting cancer awareness
  • Super Stars award and pins - for recruiting new members, and promoting the honors topic. The 10 super star pins were awarded to Patsy Staples, Lisa Polmounter, Mindy Graves, Mary Douglas, Joy McPherso, Belinda Smith,Laurie Smith, Tina Dunn, Carol Savchak, and Waymon Martin
  • Hall of Honors - focuses on leadership ability, student performance in the classroom and recognition from chapter advisors. The recipients were Laurie Smith, Mary Douglas, and Lisa Polmounter
  • Service Hallmark - for leadership, scholarship, fellowship and service.
    Communication Award - award is given to chapters who keep the Regional office informed of their activities.
  • Newsletter Honorable Mention - for newsletter design and content. Beta Theta Rho’s Public Relations officer, Lisa Polmounter received recognition for designing and writing articles for RCC’s chapter newsletter.
  • Horizon Award - for the advisors who go above and beyond their normal duties. Carol Savchak and Waymon Martin received this award.
  • 5 Star Award - for achieving goals in all hallmarks: Leadership, Scholarship, Service, and Fellowship. RCC’s chapter Beta Theta Rho first achieved five star in the 2003/2004 school year and have maintained the five star status every year.
  • 2005 Pinnacle GOLD - national recognition awarded for reaching our membership goals.
  • 2005 Pinnacle PLATINUM - national award for reaching membership goals for three consecutive years.
