Determining an appropriate career for yourself typically involves examining your interests, current strengths and abilities, and work-related values. There are numerous web sites designed to help you make effective career decisions. Randolph Community College does not endorse these sites and is not responsible for content on these sites. Descriptions of some of these sites follow:

www.nccareers.org - This site provides a structured guide to determine your career goals and assist in making your career or college major decisions. Take the vocational interest inventory, “The Career Key,” which will match your personality style and career interests. Based on your responses, you will receive a score in six work-related areas. Use your highest scores to search various occupations related to those interests. This search will automatically provide you with occupational information from North Carolina that will include job descriptions, salary expectations, job availability, training requirements, etc. For more detailed occupational descriptions and information, access the “Occupational Outlook Handbook” from this site. To determine your college major, contact an RCC counselor to match your Career Key score with programs available at Randolph Community College.

www.ncmentor.org - N.C. Mentor is a new site providing organizational tools and information for students planning to attend college. Career assessments and financial aid components are included in this site.

www.ncnavigator.org - N.C. Navigator provides links to various free and fee-based self-assessment career tools. Choose “Job and Career Navigator,” “Career Planning,” and “Career Planning” again to reach the self-assessment sites.
