Basic Skills Programs

General Educational Development (GED)/GED Testing

The GED program is designed for students preparing to take the GED Tests (High School Equivalency Exam). Instructors work with students in planning of study to meet individual needs and goals. Students work at own pace. These classes are free. Books are provided for classroom use.

RCC is approved by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction and by the American Council on Education as a testing center for the General Education Development Tests. The GED testing center accommodates candidates with special learning disabilities. There is a flexible testing schedule so that persons employed on any shift may test without having to lose time from work. The fee for testing is $7.50. To make an appointment for placement testing, call RCC's Basic Skills programs at the Asheboro Campus, (336) 633-0211, or call the Archdale Off-Campus Center, (336) 862-7980.
